Interesting question – for tidal bores to form it needs a high tidal range and computer modelling of the range around the coast shows quite large variations with them tending to occur just where you’d expect. However, values are significantly lower from north of the Solway Firth around to the Humber Estuary so never-say-never but tidal bores are less likely there! Interesting post of yours too thanks.
I didn't realise that the Solway had a bore! That's good to know. (We visit that part of Scotland quite often)
Yes it was quite a surprise to see and just a couple of minutes later I'd have missed it as it moved temporarily out of sight of the road!
Do any east coast estuaries, such as the Firth of Tay, have tidal bores? I tend to associate them with southwest facing inlets.
This week I was also writing about how early the bluebells and other spring indicators are: https://open.substack.com/pub/felicitymartin/p/spring-is-bursting-out-all-over?r=dsete&utm_medium=ios
